Hey there, world-changer š
You are one of a kind. Thatās not just something adults say ā itās real. There has never been, and will never be, another person quite like you. Thatās your superpower.
But sometimes, it doesnāt feelĀ like a superpower. Maybe youāve looked at someone else and thought,
āI wish I had her hair.ā āWhy canāt I be more confident like her?ā āIf I looked like that, maybe Iād be happierā¦ā
Letās press pause on those thoughts and turn the spotlight back on you.
š§ Wait⦠Why Am I Thinking This Stuff?
First ā youāre not weird or dramatic. Youāre growing. Right now, your brain is going through a hugeĀ change. As you head into your pre-teen years, a part of your brain called the prefrontal cortexĀ starts developing like crazy. This part helps you think about yourself, notice what others think, and reflect on your place in the world.
That means:
You start seeing yourself differently.
You compare yourself to others more often.
You careĀ more about what others think.
It can feel confusing ā but itās actually a super importantĀ part of growing up. Youāre learning who you are and what matters to you. Thatās a big deal.
So if youāve started feeling unsure or thinking you need to change something about yourself to fit in ā youāre not alone. Youāre just becoming more aware. Now letās use that awareness to build confidence instead of shrinking it.
š« Being Different is YourĀ Power
Hereās a truth bomb: trying to fit in all the time can make you shrink. But being yourself? That makes you shine.
Youāre allowed to love the things that make you different.
You donāt have to follow trends to be worthy.
Your thoughts, your dreams, your weird little quirks ā they all matter.
The world needs your voice, your laugh, your ideas.
āļø Try This: Create Your ME MAP
Grab a notebook, journal, or a blank piece of paper. Draw a circle in the middle and write your name.
Around your name, write or draw:
š 3 things you love about yourself
šŖ 2 things youāre proud of (big or small)
š 1 thing that makes you different in a good way
Put it somewhere you can see every day ā on your wall, your mirror, or inside your diary. This is your reminderĀ of how special you are.
š Flip the Script
The next time you catch yourself thinkingā¦
āI wish I looked like her,ā switch it up with: āIām learning to love meĀ ā and thatās more powerful than looking like anyone else.ā
š Before You Go
You donāt have to be more like her. You just have to be more like you. And that is more than enough.
So keep being weird, wonderful, loud, quiet, sporty, artsy, shy, bold ā whatever feels true to you. Your brain is growing, and so are you ā in the bestĀ ways.
